دهمین کنگره سازمان بین المللی برای مطالعه عهد عتیق از 24 تا 29 اوت 1980 در وین به ریاست پروفسور W. J. Kornfeld از دانشکده الهیات کاتولیک در دانشگاه وین برگزار شد. مجلد حاضر گواه این است که هدف اولیه از چنین جلساتی محقق شد: گردهم آوردن دانشمندان از نقاط مختلف جهان و سنت های مختلف دینی برای مطالعه عهد عتیق و بحث در مورد مشکلات آن. جلد حاضر طبق معمول شامل کلیه مقالاتی است که با دعوت در کنگره خوانده شده است.

The Tenth Congress of the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament was held from 24 to 29 August 1980 in Vienna under the Presidency of Professor W. J. Kornfeld, of the Catholic Faculty of Theology in the University of Vienna . The present volume bears witness that the primary purpose of such meetings was attained: to bring together scholars from different parts of the world and from different religious traditions to study the Old Testament and to discuss its problems. The present volume includes, as usual, all the papers read by invitation at the Congress.
